5 Things Sony Needs To Patch In MLB The Show 21 - Forbes

sony.indah.link

MLB The Show 21 has its good and bad points. There is more positive than negative, and not every bad point needs to be fixed within this year’s version.

Quite honestly, some of the missteps would require too much labor and resources to remedy with a patch (commentary upgrades, revamping Road to the Show, adding another layer to franchise mode, and upgrading player models).

However, there are about five things that don’t appear to be beyond the reach of a patch. Let’s take a look at them.

Improving Server Strength

Ever since the game launched officially on April 20, the server performance has been lacking. Many users have taken to social media to voice their concerns.

Thankfully, on Monday night, the MLB The Show Twitter account shared an update. A fix has been implemented, but it will take a few days to know if it has wholly rectified the issue.

Fixing Check Swings...They Don’t Really Exist

During the lead-up to the game’s release, Sony told us they had improved the checked-swing mechanic.

Countless games played and hours spent tells me that it is worse now than it has ever been. Just about every checked swing is called a strike, and that’s even when you haven't broken the plain.

I applaud Sony’s efforts to fix this part of the game, but I’d just as soon have them change it back to the way it has been for years.

Adding Night Games to Created Stadiums (or at Least Addressing the Issue)

The Stadium Creator feature is fantastic in almost every way. However, it would have been nice for Sony to tell fans about some of the limitations.

The fact that you can’t use your stadium in a night game is a reasonably significant detail, and there is no way this should have been left out of the pre-release information.

I’m wondering if this is something that could be patched. If so, it would make an already great feature even better.

Search and Filter Options in Stadium Creator Vault

While we’re talking about the Stadium Creator, it’s a pain trying to find any specific stadium in the vault. There is no way to filter a search, which you can do with roster and logo saves.

Adding a search filter would make a world of difference.

Fixing Road to the Show Progression

File this one under a near-lock to be fixed soon. As of the publication of this article, progress toward the 1st Inning Program wasn’t working for my RTTS player.

After checking online to see if others were experiencing a similar problem, it appears this issue affects multiple people.

There is no way Sony leaves this issue untouched, so at least two of these bullet points should be fixed or improved shortly. We’ll keep an eye out for more wins and losses over the next few weeks with MLB The Show’s next-gen debut.
