One of the best titles released for the PS4 was 2018's God of War developed by Sony's Santa Monica Studio. And just because a new generation of hardware launched shouldn't mean we stop enjoying it. So today, the game received a free patch which makes it even more impressive when played on a PS5.

In a post on the PlayStation website, Santa Monica Studio explains how on the PS4 Pro there were two graphics mode options. The first favors performance at the cost of resolution, where as the second favors resolution at the cost of performance. And by performance they are referring to framerates. For PS5, no choice needs to be made as the new console is powerful enough to do both at the same time.

With that in mind, today's patch for God of War "replaces the current video graphics mode option with a new default setting that will offer the best of both performance and resolution." The enhanced performance experience means that once the patch is applied, the game will maintain 60fps while running at 4K (2160p) resolution.

It's still possible to access the PS4 mode where resolution is favored, but it does mean the game is going to run at 30fps with a 4K resolution on your PS5. The new mode sounds like a much better way to experience the game on Sony's latest hardware.
