I wish the future Oppo Find would take a closer look at their selfie camera, it's quite lackluster compared to the likes of Huawei and Samsung and they can't afford to slack when they are asking similar price.

I hope it's a bigger sensor than IMX700, maybe 1/1.15" or even 1/1.1" and with 48-50 megapixels max. More than 50 is just too much.

Dometalican, 13 hours agoI hope so. I mean...they saw how soft their Ultrawide and Telephoto pictures were. My hope is ... moreThey made clear why all 3 has same MP count.
They do not have interest in quadbayer sensors.
It was said months ago.
Sony is gonna stick with Bayer 12MP.
Quadbayer cant provide what they want.
Xperia now is pocket version of Alpha A9.
Why do you think Apple does not use quadbayer as well?
Slow readout = tons of rolling shutter = bad for videos

FarFan, 17 hours agoMain question is: Will Sony ever benefit of its own camera modules?I hope so. I mean...they saw how soft their Ultrawide and Telephoto pictures were. My hope is that they upgrade the main sensor to 16MP and then use a dual-bayer 32MP for their portrait and wide-angle lens. I feel that would improve their pictures without compromising the quick burst shots (not that for the non-main cams is that even necessary...)

[deleted post]It's a little bit sad, but hard fact as many reviewers put out on their reviews.
I wonder if this is a deliberate decision by Sony for the fear of cannibalising their entry-level mirrorless camera lineups.

[deleted post]Xperia does not use same of other phones.
Xperia flagships = 220, 300, 400, 455, 557 and 563.
Samsung, Apple, Motorola, Huawei, BBK, Htc, Xiaomi, Zte never had those.

FarFan, 17 hours agoMain question is: Will Sony ever benefit of its own camera modules? How it works
OEM: Sony , are you available to make me new sensor?
Sony : Yes, what do you need?
OEM: X megapixels, Y size. Quadbayer please.
Sony: How many?
OEM : Z million units. How much money?
Sony : N dollars per unit.
OEM: Good, let's sign deal.
Sony Mobile has nothing to do with this. They use what they think it is convenient for Xperia.
Same way imx700y was made to satisfy Huawei, 689 for BBK, 555 for Samsung; there is 557 for Sony Mobile.
If Sony Mobile wanted, they could order a variant of any of these sensors made for other. They simply has no interest in Quadbayer Tech.

For Oppo, not With Oppo.
Except Samsung (make sensors ) none of other phone makers have imaging knowledge.
It is not like CPU that someone designs and someone else takes out of paper.

YUKI93, 19 hours agoI wouldn't be surprised to see OnePlus use this sensor for their 9 Pro.OnePlus 8 Pro was basically the Oppo Find X2 Pro right when Pete Lau became CEO of OPLUS. So I would also assume that they do the same this year as it saves cost (bigger scale production, less R&D, etc).

What's important, is dual ISO active at the same time, to get a more pleasing picture, like Arri and some camera companies do. Normal dual ISO sensors ussually do only one iso at a time. It often makes for more wash out at the higher end and dimmer color at lower light on models. The true dual ISO sensors tend to get more solid color and better dynamic range.
The best Sony like one iso at a time camera of the day, used to film the last Guardians of the Galaxy film, a Red 8k sensor, produces pleasingly delicate tonal colours, but I still prefer the original color filmed on the Alexa with true dual ISO at the sane time. For consumer camera media viewing, the dual ISO at the sane time thick color look is more pleasing.
Having said that, you can try to patch up single ISO at a time footage to look more like dual ISO at the same time footage.
SpectreYT01, 21 hours agoEven bigger question is will the OnePlus 9 Pro get it?Considering that OnePlus is still Oppo's sub-brand iirc, I wouldn't be surprised if OnePlus have access to it. But we'll see about it.
