The news dropped during a digital showcase Wednesday that included updates to games arriving at launch.
Sony hosted a digital showcase Wednesday with much-anticipated release date information for the next-gen PlayStation 5 console.
Previously revealed to be arriving in the holiday season of 2020, the console will drop on Nov. 12 for $499. A digital edition will cost $399.
Among the first-party games arriving at launch is Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Sony also teased a God of War sequel due out next year.
Microsoft's next-gen gaming competitors, the Xbox Series X — a successor to the Xbox One — and its smaller version, the Series S, are dropping Nov. 10 for $499 and $299, respectively.
